About

Thanks for visiting my webpage.

My name is Matt Greene and I am a composer who lives in the Atlanta, Georgia (USA) area. I own a recording studio and teach piano but my main focus is music composition. I own a Yamaha C-5 piano and a Pro-tools set up. E-mail me if you are interested in recording piano, voice or any other chamber group that may or may not require a piano. I can also be contacted for lessons (piano or bass guitar) as well.

This page is designed for people who like new music that is actually listenable too, and playable. Feel free to download the music and play it all you want for fun, recitals, whatever. It is, however, copyrighted, so if you pass it on as your own, or use it in a film or whatever without my permission… I will hunt you down.

There is no John Cage here or someone banging on the piano like a chimpanzee while calling it music. This is notated music, not bang on a can hippy stuff. I have multiple college degrees, graduate work included, in music. I had a hard time with new music in the academic world. I believe music is as Quincy Jones put it, “an emotional architecture.” Not a collage of sounds that serves the purpose of a futile exercise. It must move the soul or it is not music at all. What I try to do is write music that speaks through emotion. Like love, it can be terribly complicated but at the same time, the simpleist act may be the one that provides the most profound effect.

I hope you enjoy it.
